Billund (dpa / tmn) – It consists of 949 parts and you can build five different robots from it: More than seven years after the introduction of its last robot toy, Lego Mindstorms EV3, the Danish building block manufacturer has launched a new robot set.

Lego Mindstorms Robot Inventor is not just about building the different robots, it’s also about programming them. Lego offers two solutions. For children who are new to programming, Lego uses a scratch-based programming language. This is an environment specially developed for children and young people. More advanced programmers can also use the powerful and more complex programming language Python.

The application works on a PC with Windows 10, on Mac, iPad and iPhones, on Android tablets and smartphones as well as on tablets with the Amazon Fire OS operating system.

One of the robots you can build with the set is “Blast”, a kind of stoic action hero who can shoot or hammer through obstacles and grab objects. It can also be programmed to scan its surroundings and fire darts when it senses danger. The set can also be used to build a photo box in which small dogs can take a selfie on their own.

Or you can combine with the “MVP” set, a modular vehicle platform that can be converted into a buggy, a crane, a shooting range or a brick-eating truck. With a price of 360 euros, Lego Mindstorms Robot Inventor is one of the most expensive Lego products.
