Malware is a plague that has affected Android uniquely over the years. Google tries at all costs to combat this scourge and keep users safe and protected from serious security problems.
Discoveries of new apps with malware are constant. Thus, 11 more infected apps have now appeared. These are no longer in the Play Store, but need to be removed from smartphones.
11 more apps infected with malware on the Play Store
Malware situations in the Android app store are all too common. Google usually reacts immediately and eliminates apps from its Android store, in order to protect users and their smartphones.
A new list has now been discovered, revealing the 11 apps that have malware present. This was previously known and the protection measures were activated. The problem is called Joker and Google has already described the way it worked.
Google has already removed these malicious apps
Now, and from what is described, the Joker has a new way of acting. It started to be housed in the manifest file, in an encoded string, so that it would not be perceived by any human. In this way it certainly goes unnoticed by any assessment that is made.
Another measure that appears to have been adopted by this malware is an intelligent waiting process. The malware only becomes active after a few days, in order to escape all monitoring and evaluation that is done by Play Protect.
Another problem for Android smartphones
The impact of this new wave of attack appears to be great and is having a high success. From what has been discovered, these 11 apps already have more than 500 thousand installations and it seems to have the support of Android smartphone users. The list of these apps can be seen below.
