Until recently, the Star Wars Christmas Special, done in 1978, was universally recognized by fans as the worst production in the franchise (the new trilogy, especially the last film, now shares opinions). With its low budget, crazy plot, senseless musicals and the Chewbacca family, not even the presence of the original cast was enough to save the production.
But Disney wants to revive Kashyyyk’s “Day of Life” tradition and is producing a new Christmas Special, this time in partnership with Lego. The film opens on November 17, at Disney + (we can already see it in Brazil!) And brings together Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose and the androids R2-D2 and BB-8, for a party.
According to Lucasfilm, the events of the Christmas Special take place after “Star Wars: The Ascension Skywalker” (can you say?), When Rey embarks on a new adventure with BB-8, to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. . The film promises a lot of fanservice, since in this mission, the last jedi will travel through moments of the Star Wars cinematic history, and find Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and other heroes and villains of the saga.

The partnership between Star Wars and ancient Lego is very fruitful. Games, animated shorts and other products based on the universe tend to be very successful, pleasing both new and old fans. “The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special” will be directed by Ken Cunningham (who made “Lego Marvel Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom”) and written by David Shayne (from “Lego Star Wars: All-Stars”).
