Two Apple bets from 2019 had good sales results in the world. The iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2020) were the best-selling phones in the third quarter of 2020, with 16 million and 10 million units sold, respectively. The ranking, composed of a survey by market consultancy Canalys, also includes five models from Samsung and three from Xiaomi. In fact, the Chinese manufacturer entered the top three for the first time, with the smartphone market recovering in the period.

In the third quarter, smartphone sales reached 348 million units worldwide, with a drop of 1% year-over-year. The number, however, represents an increase of 22% in relation to the previous quarter. Samsung regained its leadership, up 2% to 80.2 million units. Huawei fell to second place with a 23% drop to 51.7 million units. Xiaomi took third place for the first time, reaching 47.1 million units with a 45% growth.
Apple, which did not have the main iPhone launch in September, sold 43.2 million, down 1%, while maker Vivo completed the top five, selling 31.8 million units.
