Milan (AP) – Soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the Italian league leader AC Milan doesn’t seem to be happy to be part of the classic EA Sports FIFA video game.
“Who gave FIFA EA Sport the right to use my face and name?” Wrote the 39-year-old on Twitter. He did not know anything about being a member of the worldwide association of professional footballers Fifpro. The Swede wrote in the post that he had not allowed the world football association FIFA or Fifpro to earn money with him. “Time to investigate.”
In a statement, US-based video game developer Electronic Arts (EA) stated that in order to create an authentic experience year after year, they work with numerous leagues, teams and individual talents to secure the rights for the similarity of players that is included in the game. One of these long-term partnerships also exists with Fifpro.
On top of that, AC Milan had entered into a multi-year partnership with EA this year, according to a statement from the club in August. This should make it possible for fans of EA Sports FIFA to deliver “innovative world-class entertainment”.
Ibrahimovic has been playing for ex-champions AC Milan again this year. Between 2010 and 2012 he had already played for the club. In between he moved to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and the US club LA Galaxy.
