IOS 14 exposes applications that atone for information they don’t need


With the launch of iOS 14, Apple will bring greater security to its equipment. One of the new measures is to send a notification whenever an application copies information that is in your clipboard.

Thanks to this novelty, the beta version of iOS 14 has already exposed almost 50 applications with access to this data. Apps like TikTok, LinkedIn or others that don’t even have text fields are in place on this worrying list.

To put it in context, the clipboard is the place where your smartphone or computer temporarily stores text and other information that you want to copy from side to side. This is the secret place that enhances the much loved copy paste functionality.

The video above demonstrates how iOS 14 alerts us whenever any information present on our clipboard. And we found that some applications that don’t even need this information have access to it.

Reddit was one of the few to speak out on this controversy. Those responsible for the platform have already clarified that they will fix the problem soon. However, most remain silent.

This news is further proof that we must not move important information between applications or equipment in this way. Data such as access to the bank or passwords can be easily stolen by malicious applications.
