Kali Linux is an out-of-box Linux distribution, based on Debian, which has a set of interesting but equally dangerous tools. Its installation is not difficult, but it is possible to obtain images ready to work in VMWARE, VirtualBox and even in Microsoft’s tool, Hyper-V.
Get the latest version of Kali Linux ready now.
Of the many advantages that exist in having a Linux distribution, highlight the fact that we can easily create functional images of it. In the case of the Kali Linux distribution, those responsible for distribution even provide ready-to-use images.
How to get a ready-made image of Kali Linux?
Through the Offensive Security website it is possible to obtain images ready for VirtualBox, VMWare and Hyper-V. The images can be downloaded here. For this tutorial we will show you how to use a ready-made image of Kali Linux for VirtualBox.
To begin, you must obtain the VirtualBox image here. In our case, we download the image for 64-bit architectures. After opening VirtualBox click on import.
The next step is to indicate the downloaded image file, the.ova file.
Then validate the parameters of the virtual machine. Make sure you have all the hardware components available on your physical machine.
After the entire import process, the virtual machine will be ready to work. To start it, just pressStart.
And it’s done! As you have seen, it is very simple and fast to have a fully operational machine in operation. The user can, at any time, change the “virtual hardware” of the same. You can, for example, increase / decrease the amount of RAM to use, change the way the network card works, etc.
As mentioned, Kali Linux is a good distribution, but you need to be careful and know what to do with it. Use it in academic settings and little else.
