An independent programmer created a computer application that allows you to travel back to the days of the Macintosh Quadra, one of Apple’s computer families, during the 1990s. The app runs MacOS 8.1, in its 1991 full version.

This version is not just a cartoon emulator on a browser. The app features several games and programs like Duke Nukem 3D, Dungeons and Dragons and even Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere. If you are curious to know what Adobe programs were like in their early days, take advantage.

We also have Internet Explorer, oddly enough, and the classic Netscape browser. It is important to note that it is not possible to use the internet, only the programs already installed, with some functions, as well as games.

The app works on all operating systems like, MacOS, Windows and Linux. Felix Rieseberg, the app’s programmer, says it is a “toy”, but allows you to transfer files, mount disk images and make basic use of the operating system.

This app is available on GitHub, a repository of independent programs and other projects. If you want to install, use this link and travel through time. It is not the first time that programmers have created ways to simulate doctrine operating systems but this is a much more complete version.

In the past, emulators have been created for various versions of MacOs, as well as Windows. There are emulators from the Windows 95, 98 browser and so on. It is an interesting way to see how old systems worked.
