Currently, there is little doubt about the fact that Tesla is the most popular electric car manufacturer in the world, either because of the quality of its cars and technology or simply because of the great hype around the company. However, the sales results presented by the Tesla Model 3 are simply mind-blowing.
According to the latest report published by EV Volumes, the Tesla Model 3 is completely annihilating the competition. During the first half of 2020, the number of sales of the Model 3 is higher than the total achieved by the models that are in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place … together!
During the first 6 months of 2020, 142,346 Tesla Model 3 sales were accounted for, while the electric car in second place – Renault Zoe – was only 37,154.
Although it is the most popular electric car in the world, it is not “Number 1” in all countries
Although its dominance is completely overwhelming, the Tesla Model 3 still fails to present itself as the most popular electric car in all markets. For example, in France the Renault Zoe is the leader, in Norway we have the Audi e-tron and in Germany the most popular is the Volkswagen e-Golf.
Clearly, this great domain of the Tesla Model 3 is due in large part to the dimensions of the North American market and the immense popularity of the manufacturer in it.
In Portugal, the Tesla Model 3 quickly won over users, jumping to second position shortly after it was officially launched in our country last year. Currently, in Portugal Tesla already presents itself as the most popular electric car manufacturer when sales are counted since the beginning of the year.
However, it is interesting to note that in June this year, Tesla was only in 4th place, being overtaken by Renault, Peugeot and Nissan.
