Thanks to the WABetainfo page, which got its hands on the latest version of Messenger, we see several references to “whats_app”. And this could mean that you will soon be able to use Messenger to reply to your WhatsApp messages.

Big difference between WhatsApp and Messenger is in security

In case you don’t know, the big difference between these two services is that WhatsApp records the information of your conversation on the device itself. In addition to having no ads, there is end-to-end encryption so your messages are safe.

In the case of Messenger, it is different, since your conversations are stored in the cloud, and are available on any device where you have an account. And if there is any connection between both platforms, the content of your WhatsApp message could not be shared with Facebook servers.

It is said by the source that Messenger will have to incorporate a new protocol for such a feature to become possible. If the security factor in WhatsApp were lost, it would render the app harmless for many users.

You should keep in mind that these are features in development. As such, these references may be changed or destroyed. But it will be interesting to see if Facebook is really going to move forward with this integration.
