Xiaomi introduced the Mi Band 5 in China, and is preparing to launch its global version for next July. However, doubts remain as to whether the global version will even count on NFC for payments or support for the virtual assistant Amazon Alexa.
A rumor from the German website Smartdroid realizes that the global version of the smartband will even have three of the most awaited features. And these will make it much more valuable.
3 functions that should arrive with the Mi Band 5 (global version):
- Support for Amazon Alexa virtual assistant
- NFC for payments (Mastercard)
- SpO2 measurement (blood oxygen)
The source says that Amazon Alexa will be a guaranteed feature, but only for voice input. The commands will then be described on the screen as soon as they are carried out.
As you can see from the images provided, the collaboration with Mastercard is also notorious. However, it remains to be seen to what extent this partnership will be available in all countries. It is good to bear in mind that Mi Band 4 already supports payments with Mastercard, but only in Russia.
The images also refer to the measurement of SpO2, which allows measuring the level of oxygen in the blood. This will be another big step in terms of health for Mi Band 5.
For now you should look at this information with a pinch of salt, until there is official confirmation. It should be noted that the global version of the Mi Band 5 pre-sold in Portugal makes no reference to these characteristics. However, these can only be revealed in the overall presentation, and only be available in a more expensive version.
